Over the past few years, the URMIA Board of Directors recognized its need to promote succession planning of upcoming generations of higher education risk management professionals. To help accomplish this goal, URMIA convened a task force to develop a scholarship program for educational scholarships to full-time, degree seeking students pursuing careers in risk management. It was a privilege to serve as the chair of this task force, and we are proud to announce the newly developed Scholarship Program, with its pilot year and soft launch being the 2016-2017 academic year.

Complete information can be found here. A summary of the eligibility criteria is as follows.

Applicants shall be:

  • Full-time, degree seeking students who are in good standing at their educational institution
  • Rising juniors, seniors or masters/doctorate candidates
  • Pursuing careers in risk management (or a related field), with a preference given for students desiring to enter a career in higher education risk management

In its pilot year, URMIA will fund three $2,500 awards, for a total of $7,500. The submission deadline is March 31, 2016, with disbursements in August. If you know someone who could benefit from this program, please send them the below detailed information and forms.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the award recipients in May!
