I was introduced to this association when I joined the URMIA National Office staff last May. Learning more about how URMIA works, I am truly impressed with the organization's strategic planning process and the outcomes ensuing from such work. As a result of two priorities identified in the 2014-2016 Strategic Plan, I am pleased to announce that URMIA's website has earned a prestigious Hermes Creative Award

Hermes Creative Awards are presented annually by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, an international organization consisting of several thousand marketing, advertising, public relations, media production and web design professionals. A look at their list of winners is a who's who of the creative industry.

This award stems from our collaboration with Brightfind to improve the design and usability of the URMIA website for both our members and the general public. Quoting our strategic plan, "URMIA will provide an effective network interface and website to facilitate communication for both internal and external constituents." Likewise, "URMIA will promote, facilitate and improve the dissemination of risk management information through improvements to its website, library and available risk management resources."

While our improvement efforts are ongoing, the recognition of winning a Gold Hermes Creative Award in 2016 for our website redesign shows that our association is on the right track.
