Bio

Linda C. Oliver began her career at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in the Deans Office at Owens Arts Center in February, 1989. She later transferred to other internal administrative positions in the Office of Development (1990-91) and Human Resources (1991-1993). She assumed the position of Claims Coordinator in the Office of Risk Management and Insurance under the direction of the University’s Risk Manager, Henry D. James in 1993. She was promoted to University Claims Manager by Anita Ingram, former SMU’s Associate Vice President/Chief Risk Officer. In this role, her responsibilities included the following; contract review, claims administration for property and casualty incidents, special events assistance with Student Affairs and external constituents; and maintained and managed the Property and Casualty Insurance Program.. In addition, she managed the Fleet Safety Program, TULIP (Tenant Users Liability Insurance Policy), International Travel Health Insurance/Emergency Evacuation Program and program development and compliance for the Protection of Minors on Campus initiative. Prior to joining SMU she was employed at the Wichita County District Attorney’s Office in Wichita Falls, Texas for 12 years. Linda received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas; Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Vernon Regional College at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. She completed Leadership Wichita Falls and also attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She continues to matriculate in her studies in the risk management field and is currently pursuing her Masters of Liberal Arts Degree from Southern Methodist University. She is a Licensed Multi-Line Insurance Adjuster for the State of Texas. Linda has served on the URMIA (University Risk & Insurance Management Association) Membership Committee for 15 years. She also served on the 1996 Conference Planning Committee in Ft. Worth, Texas and the 2010 Conference Planning Committee for Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She has been an active member of Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) since 1994.
