Bio

Barbara A. Davey, insurance and financial risk manager with the University of Notre Dame, began her career as an insurance company casualty underwriter. She worked for several brokerage firms before beginning her tenure with the university in 1996. In that capacity, Ms. Davey provides insurance and risk management expertise to the university. Ms. Davey has achieved designations as a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). In the fall of 2001, Ms. Davey was elected to URMIA's board of directors and served the membership in that capacity for six years. She has also served URMIA in various leadership roles, including co-chair of the 2006 Annual Conference in San Antonio, Membership Committee chair, and Professional Development Committee chair. Ms. Davey served as chairperson of the Total Cost of Risk Task Force and co-authored URMIA's two white papers addressing the subject matter. In 2010, Ms. Davey was honored with URMIA's Distinguished Risk Manager Award.
