Bio

Brenda Tappan, ARM joined United Educators as a Risk Management Consultant in September of 2006. As a member of the Training Implementation Team, she works with UE’s members to bring courses, online tools and other resources to their campus in an attempt to reduce risks and increase safety in line with their varied campus cultures. Brenda frequently presents to and facilitates discussions with UE members as well as at regional and national conferences of professional organizations on a broad array of topics that create a source of risk for institutions of higher education. Brenda completed her Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in Education and Women’s Studies at Colgate University in 2003, graduating Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She obtained her Associate in Risk Management designation from the Insurance Institute of America in June 2005. Brenda completed her Master’s Degree in the Communication and Leadership Strategies Graduate Program at Gonzaga University in 2013, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Prior to her employment with United Educators, Brenda spent 16 years at Colgate University , including 13 years as Insurance and Risk Management Coordinator, where she developed valuable skills that she uses to assist others.
