Webinar: Mental Health and Study Abroad: Harnessing Knowledge to Keep Students Safe

When:  Jan 23, 2018 from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM (ET)

The International Committee of University Risk Management & Insurance Association presents:  Mental Health and Study Abroad: Harnessing Knowledge to Keep Students Safe

It's well documented that behavioral and mental health challenges affect many university students today. And with more and more students choosing to study abroad (and some in remote locations) issues that are well controlled at home can be exacerbated abroad.  The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) noted in a report that "millions of American children live with depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, Tourette Syndrome, or a host of other mental health issues."

Our panel will continue the discussion that URMIA began last year by providing an update on how this issue continues to impact study abroad programs. We'll look at several case studies and review the proactive measures that can be put into place to manage risk even before the student leaves campus, as well as best practices utilized for those particular situations. This granular approach will offer how best practices are developed and utilized in each case that can be scaled for any size institution.
