Higher Education ERM Roundtable

When:  Apr 20, 2020 from 03:00 PM to 04:00 PM (ET)

URMIA's Higher Education ERM Roundtable will host its online quarterly meeting. Please check back for topic details. Mark S. Beasley, professor of accounting and director of the ERM Initiative at North Carolina State University, will give a presentation on Identifying Potential Risk Blind Spots.

Research shows that all humans face inherent biases in how we make judgments and decisions – some of us are biased towards excessive optimism, others are overconfident or they “rush-to-solve” a problem, among other biases. These realities can create “blind spots” for the management team. This presentation will highlight a number of techniques ERM leaders can use to help tease out potential blind spots that may exist among leaders of an organization. These techniques can help boards and senior executives “turn and look” to increase the likelihood that more potential emerging risks will be recognized before they “blindside” the organization.

You must be a member of this URMIA community to participate. Membership is open to URMIA's Institutional members who are directly and substantially responsible for ERM. Apply to join this community before the event. Login instructions will be posted in the Higher Education ERM Roundtable community shortly before the event.
