Manage messages from URMIA by setting your preferences
Follow These Steps to Tell URMIA What Messages Interest You
Did you know you can set your preferences for messaging from URMIA? We know your inbox can get crowded and we want to get you the information about higher ed risk management and insurance that pertains to your interests and responsibilities.
View the types of URMIA messages below and follow the steps to tell us what/when you’d like to hear from us.
General Email Messaging
URMIA tries to limit the number of email messages sent to members each week. We have started “categorizing” our messages so members can choose which categories of messages they are interested in receiving.
We’ve grouped messages into the following categories:
- Webinars/Community Conversations – upcoming webinars and community conversations being offered by URMIA on a variety of topics
- Member Benefits – occasional messages regarding the various member benefits that you can take advantage of as part of your URMIA membership
- Annual Conference 2025 – pause messages about the 2025 annual conference if you know you cannot attend in person or virtually; we’ll add you back in for 2026’s event messaging
- Volunteer Opportunities – learn about ways to get involved in URMIA through our volunteer positions
- URMIA Insights – our monthly email with some of the latest information on risk management and insurance topics
- Emerging Risk Information – periodic messages about the latest that is impacting higher ed risk management
You can opt out of any of the above categories of messages in two ways:
1. Click on the “Manage Email Preferences/Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any URMIA email message received.
2. Go to this web page and indicate your messaging preferences.
URMIA Community/URMIAnetwork Messages
The URMIAnetwork is the compilation of all of the communities that URMIA offers, including these communities: All Members, Institutional Members, Affiliate Members, Compliance, Higher Ed ERM Roundtable, Professionals of Color, Solo Risk Professionals, and YoPro.
Also included in these “community” messaging are the various committees/task forces that use the online discussion boards to share information about the committee’s/task force’s work and meetings.
With these types of messages, you can choose to receive the messages as posted or as a daily or weekly digest message of all posts made within the chosen timeframe. If you’d rather not receive any messages from a group, you can opt out as well.
Here’s how to set your preferences:
- Log into the URMIA website.
- Click on “Profile” from the dropdown menu when you click on your photo/avatar (upper right corner, next to the “create” button).
- Go to My Account and choose Community Notifications.
- Scroll down to the Notifications Section and use the dropdown menu for each of the communities you belong to and select how you want to receive messages from that community:
Real Time – Messages sent immediately as posted to the community
Daily Digest – One message sent at the beginning of each day with all messages posted to that community the day before
No Email – Receive no messages from this community
- If you prefer, you can check the “Consolidated Daily Digest” or “Consolidated Weekly Digest” box for any community messages that you want included in one message. This consolidated message will include all posts from the selected communities during the chosen timeframe.
We hope you will use these options to create the URMIA messaging schedule that meets your needs. If you have questions about setting your preferences, contact the URMIA Office.
