Bio

I enjoyed the good fortune of knowing Jim and Pat for almost three years before he decided to retire from Ohio State University. Our MURMIA meeting at Ohio State will always stand out in my mind as one of the most outstanding meetings we've ever enjoyed. While I would have been the first to encourage his decision - if I'd known ahead of time - I was sorry to see him hang it up. Here's what he's doing now. -- Larry Stephens I started at Ohio State University as an Internal Auditor in April, 1959. I worked at many assignments, with the last fifteen years spent as Director of Insurance and Risk Management. I accepted an Early Retirement Incentive and retired on December 31, 1988. I was one of the founding members of URMIA and was its Secretary-Treasurer for several years. I participated in many conferences, from Pheasant Run - the first conference - to Sacramento - my last conference. I always enjoyed meeting with fellow members and sharing thoughts. To me, the greatest benefit of URMIA was being able to call on your peers for advice and guidance. After retirement, I accepted a part-time job working two days a week for the Board of Elections! Seriously, my hobbies and interests now include tennis, learning to play bridge, I'm an officer in the Ohio State University Retirees Association, a litter picker for a two mile section of U.S. Route 33. I garden, make wine (drink it, too) and do whatever else looks interesting. Pat and I are in reasonable health and enjoy traveling. We have been in all 50 states except Delaware and North Dakota, Germany (including East Germany), Great Britain, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, To France, Italy, and Spain. We have participated in 30 Elderhostels, including three home stays in Mexico and one in Great Britain. Upcoming travels include a trans-Panama Canal cruise, a month in Greece, and to Mexico's Copper Canyon. I celebrated receiving my Medicare card by breaking my right wrist. I reached my deductible quickly and just as quickly learned to cope with Medicare claim paperwork, deductibles and co-insurance! Pat and I have been married 45 years. We have five children, four boys and one girl. They all live in Ohio, four of them in Columbus. We have 4 and 4/9 grandchildren. We would enjoy hearing from our old friends. Write us at 510 E. Beaumont Road, Columbus, OH 43214-2271, or call us at 614-268-0513. Jim Roesch
