Josey Bathke is the Director of Risk Management, Insurance and Loss prevention at the University of Iowa. In this role she works to minimize the risk of financial loss to the University through identification and analysis of risk, implementation of loss control programs and contractual transfer or other risk reduction or financing techniques. She has 20+ years of experience in higher education. In that time, Josey has served as in-house legal counsel at both the University of Iowa and Act, Inc. She has also been the Director of Employee & Labor Relations at the UI where she was responsible for managing relationships between the university and its employees to ensure fair and consistent treatment of all employees. Josey has also been an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the UI Tippie College of Business where she has taught classes to graduate and undergraduate students including Nonprofit Organizational Effectiveness, Introduction to Law, Business Ethics and Employment Law. Josey regularly collaborates with other faculty teaching risk management courses to allow students the "real world" experience of processing auto physical damage and liability claims and analyzing live claims data for possible mitigation or hazard reduction.
