Dorothy Hedman Retires

Join us in congratulating Dorothy Hedman on her retirement.                                                            6/21/2019

New Life Starts July 1

Dorothy Hedman will retire on June 30 as insurance manager at Washburn University, where she served for 26 years. She describes her career as a “dream job” because “no two days were ever the same” and because it was so rewarding to help solve risk problems and help people. She plans to remain in Topeka, KS, as she shifts her attention to spending more time with family, reconnecting with friends, and volunteering at a hospital and grade school. Those who wish to contact her may use the email on her URMIA member profile page.

Dorothy joined URMIA shortly after taking on the responsibilities of Washburn’s insurance manager. She was a member of the 2016 Central Regional Conference Committee and served on the Scholarship Committee. Her advice to younger URMIA members: “Be sure to make use of the URMIAnetwork resources. It isn’t necessary for you to reinvent the wheel. If you have a question, it’s probably been asked before. And if not, there are probably many others who will be interested in the responses you get to your questions.”
