Engage in conversations across campus to raise literacy for well-being among higher education professionals
Partnering to Raise Awareness from Multiple Corners of Campus
URMIA is joining more than 20 other higher education associations as we come together in dialogue around well-being. This buzzword is seemingly everywhere, but what does it really mean? Why does it matter? How can we each contribute to this critical work?
“Well-being in Higher Education: Raising Literacy and Advancing the Conversation” is a series of free, virtual events taking place this February 26 - March 1. The goal is to raise the literacy for well-being among higher education professionals and to advance conversation among colleagues on and across campuses.
Add to What Risk Managers Already Know
“For risk managers, well-being of students, faculty, and staff is a known factor in the success of the individual and the campus ecosystem. This dedicated week for higher educational professionals to come together is a unique opportunity to reinforce what our community has known: addressing well-being from many angles is critical,” said URMIA’s Executive Director Michelle Smith. “URMIA’s is fortunate to partner with our sister organizations so we can all focus on real-world strategies to increase well-being across campuses. This collaboration is a step in the right direction in addressing this shared risk.”
URMIA’s Contribution
URMIA has coordinated/co-coordinated two of the sessions during “Well-being in Higher Education: Raising Literacy and Advancing the Conversation” week. Watch the schedule particularly for URMIA’s sessions “Enhancing Student Well-being on Campus by Collaborating with Risk Management” (happening Feb. 27 at 3pm ET) and “Managing Anxiety and Stress in the Workplace" (happening Feb. 27 at Noon ET). Links to the full schedule and registration information will be sent out as soon as it is available.
Well-being Week’s Goals
After attending, participants should be able to:
- Articulate why well-being is critical to the mission of higher education
- Discuss how each campus position is inherently a part of well-being work
- Describe the aspects of well-being and differentiate between wellness and well-being
- Identify opportunities for collaboration to increase campus well-being
Register and Encourage Others To Do the Same
Registration details and a schedule of sessions will be available soon. Sessions will be open to all, and many will be recorded.
