Aon Says Goodbye

Leta Finch, DRM, MPA, retired in December as Aon’s national practice leader for higher education. She was the University of Vermont’s director of risk management from 1982-1991 and later worked for URMIA affiliate members Marsh and most recently Aon.


Valued Member of URMIA

Leta joined URMIA in1982. She served in several capacities on the URMIA Board of Directors – most notably as president in 1990-1991 – and has been the chair of several committees. Most recently, she was active on the Government and Regulatory Affairs Committee. In 1993, Leta received the Distinguished Risk Manager (DRM) award, one of URMIA’s highest honors, for her contributions to the profession and the association.


International Impact

She has written extensively and been a frequent speaker on issues of higher education risk management. She has a keen interest in international higher education and is the founder and president of the Foundation for Higher Education in Central Asia.

As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, Leta recently contributed this “Faces of Risk Management” reflection on what URMIA has meant to her.

Leta, our loss is your gain.  Thanks for contributing so much to my personal professional career, and at the highest levels to the practice of higher ed risk management.
