If this is your first URMIA annual conference, we extend a warm welcome to you. This event can be a bit overwhelming for newcomers, so here are some pre-conference tips to help you get the most out of your experience.
Your experience will be much better if you book a room at the conference hotel. See the Hotel page to book before the room block fills up.
Before you register, browse the full conference schedule, as there may be an additional fee for an activity that interests you or an accompanying guest. Be sure to read through the descriptions of our Foundational Sessions, professional development intended for those who are new to higher education risk management.
We recommend that you arrive in Boston by Sunday, September 15 in order to attend pre-conference workshops, enrichment activities, and the President’s Reception, to which newcomers are especially invited.
We encourage newcomers to commit to a conference volunteer shift or participate in an URMIAcares community service project. There is no better way to get to know other attendees than to work side-by-side with your peers. Indicate your interest during online registration.
Take advantage of the substantial early-bird discount available through July 31. Some attendees use remaining FY 2018-2019 funds for this purpose. If you wish to apply for an Annual Conference Scholarship, you must do so by the June 24 deadline. See the Registration page for details and policies.
The online 2019 Attendees Community will launch in early summer. We encourage you to watch for conference updates, ask questions, and connect with other attendees there. We also invite you to follow us on LinkedIn and Twitter, adding your voice to the discussion using
Newcomers have the option of being matched to a conference mentor, who will get in touch before the conference, meet you at the Newcomers Welcome & Orientation, and introduce you to other URMIA members.
