WEBINAR: Dealing with Student Suicide

When:  Dec 5, 2018 from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM (ET)

Suicide is the second leading cause of death, after traffic accidents, among college students. One in five students has had suicidal ideation, according to a recent national study of more than 67,000 US college students.

This free URMIA webinar will offer help on managing the crisis of student suicide. The webinar will provide insights from both the institutional perspective and from the JED Foundation, a nonprofit whose mission is to prevent suicide and protect mental health by partnering with high schools and colleges to strengthen their mental health, substance abuse and suicide prevention programs and systems.

Attendees will learn about mental health and suicide trends among college students, get an overview of the current state of campus resources dedicated to student mental health and suicide prevention, and come away with new ideas about how risk management professionals can work with others on campus to help raise awareness about student suicide and reduce the risk of this tragedy.

This free webinar is part of URMIA's Risk Management Wednesdays series.
