URMIA has established the Lisa Zimmaro Internship Grant – a $7,500 grant awarded to an URMIA member institution to hire an intern to work within the risk management department/on risk management functions. The grant is awarded each October through the Spencer Educational Foundation. It is named in memory of our colleague and friend, Lisa Zimmaro, who lost her battle with cancer in 2022. Lisa was AVP Risk Management and Treasury at Temple University where she was also an adjunct professor in the Fox School of Business. Lisa had a real love for teaching and mentoring up-and-coming risk management and insurance students and URMIA honored that love by naming the internship grant after Lisa.
Support this $2,000 annual scholarship which provides a scholarship for a solo risk manager from an URMIA institutional member to attend an URMIA conference. The scholarship covers expenses such as registration, hotel, travel, and other related costs. The scholarship was created in honor of long-time URMIA Executive Director Jenny Whittington, who started as a solo URMIA staff member, as a tribute to her extensive contributions to the organization.
