Bio

Ms. Smith is a Senior Strategic Risk Control Consultant for PMA Companies. In this role, she is responsible for providing consulting services to insured and self-insured clients primarily in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. She works hand-in-hand with large regional and national distribution partners and their clients to positively impact the total cost of risk through holistic and innovative risk management solutions. Ms. Smith brings a unique perspective to her role with over 14 years of experience in both industry and insurance safety and risk management, and seven years as a solopreneur. Developing strong relationships is the foundation of everything she does, both professionally and personally. Her forte is using industry expertise and data analytics to educate and engage key stakeholders to drive organizational change. Ms. Smith specializes in the field of education and healthcare risk management and serves as the corporate practice leader of PMA’s Education Practice Group and core member of the Data Analytics Focus Team. As a result of her passion for the field, Ms. Smith was awarded PMA’s Distinguished Achievement Award for invaluable and exceptional consulting service along with numerous PMA Proud Awards for distinguished execution. Her recent professional contributions include the following white papers and articles: “Best Practices in Risk Management for Higher Education,” “Preventing Workplace Slips, Trips and Falls in Higher Education,” “Preventing Sprain & Strain Injuries in Higher Education” and “Covid-19: Next Steps in Higher Education.” In addition, Ms. Smith has presented at several national University Risk Management & Insurance Association (URMIA) conferences, and frequently hosts webinars and presentations on risk management and effective consulting skills. Ms. Smith is a graduate of Drexel University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a minor in Biology. She holds the professional designation of Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and has a certificate in Injury and Illness Prevention from the Rutgers University School of Public Health. Ms. Smith is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
