Rick Hoaglund is a Certified Emergency Manager and the Director of Crisis Management services for Empathia / Black Swan Solutions for the past 3 years.
He has been a part of multiple activations involving Universities, Hospitality, Cruise Lines, Aviation and other industries.
Prior to Empathia, he was under contract with Amazon as a Manager in the Travel Risk Management team. There, it was the team’s responsibility to ensure the safety of Amazon employees traveling to high risk countries.
For five years he was employed by Cathay Pacific as the Manager of Emergency Response for North America, Central and South America, Vietnam, parts of England and Myanmar, as well as assisting with Hong Kong.
For over 24 years he served in various safety roles at Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air, many of which were as the Manager of Emergency Preparedness.
Rick has also been part of a Transportation Research Board’s team to develop the Airport Cooperative Research Program to standardize Emergency Planning for Airports.
