Emily began her career with Northern Illinois University in Human Resource Services, overseeing medical leaves and workers’ compensation programs. After two years, she pursued an opportunity in Risk Management, where she has been the past 10 years and currently leads the department and its Enterprise Risk Management program. Recently, Risk Management expanded from traditional operations of insurance, claims management, and risk assessments to include Environmental Health & Safety and student health insurance operations. Emily also serves as Chief of Staff to the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, a role which helps to elevate critical conversations around integrating risk in decision making, prioritization, and multi-year planning at senior leadership levels. Emily has her master’s degree in public administration and earned the Certified Risk Manager designation in 2020.
