I am excited to present to you the option of purchasing the soon-to-be auctioned infamous pants which are referred to in the title of the popular blog post "Flying by the seat of my pants..." The blog's true fame was not realized until after the author's untimely expiration at the unanticipated reference by Mike Bale in his riveting address to URMIA members which took place that historic day of September 12, 2011 in beautiful Portland, OR.
Enough about my pants already!
Kudos to the conference co-chairs and committee for an excellent annual conference. I was giddy over the fact that I was close enough to drive down from Seattle, WA. The mention in Mike's speech made up for the fact that this was the first year, in 4, that I didn't win a raffle item. That's okay, I still managed to abscond with a huge haul of free stuff, I give two thumbs up to Sponsors and their goodies. I was especially impressed with the sessions that I went to. In the past, I have lamented the lack of more advanced presentations, but my suggestions and opinions have been vindicated with this year's subjects. I further recommend that URMIA includes the presenters' videos in the presentations available online.
I give ¤¤¤¤ gold stars ¤¤¤¤ to the following sessions:
"ERM Boot Camp" It is safe to say that I have never re-invented the wheel. This is sometimes due to unsuspecting contributors but mostly because of the generous donations from people like this session's presenters. Thanks for the blueprints.
"IT Trends and Implications for Privacy, Security, and RM" I am totally stealing the term "Digital Native Generation," I just need to remember how to define it.
"Staying on the Trail: Avoiding Potential Pitfalls of Club and Intramural Sports Risk and Injury Management" Today, I was heard exclaiming "What do you mean, the Rugby Club went out and hired their own Coach?"
The Non-Stop Action Combo Duo of "Additional Insureds: Who, What, When, Where, How, Why and Why Not?" and "Don't Panic! How to Get Through COI Issues Without Going Crazy." Alone, each were great, but together they were UNSTOPPABLE!
And last but not least: "The University Student Employee: What Were They Thinking?" At one point I got so startled I jumped in my chair and emitted a very feminine "eek." I can confidently state that, in my opinion, the woman sitting next to me screamed louder than I did.
I heard that I missed a great presentation "Slippery Trails: The Art of Managing Vehicle Risks" and hope that we can get links to the videos for that presentation.
I tip my hat to those involved with planing, coordinating, and implementing this year's conference. Three cheers, "Hooray, Hooray, Hooray."
