Four Members Awarded Organizational Honors
URMIA honored members with two of its awards during the URMIA 54th Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. Here’s who were awarded some of URMIA’s highest honors.
Outstanding Affiliate Service Recognition Award
D. Jean Demchak, managing director and US education industry practice leader at Marsh, was honored with the organization’s Outstanding Affiliate Service Recognition Award. Her service to URMIA truly personifies the criteria for the award including thought leadership and notable contributions to higher education risk management, development of professional development opportunities for members, and significant volunteer service commitment.
Emeritus Award
URMIA named three retiree members as recipients of this year’s Emeritus Award. Janice Abraham, retired from United Educators as their president and CEO, a position she had served in since 1998. Mary Dewey, officially retired from Marsh Advisory Services after a long career on the institutional side of risk management at the University of Vermont; and Gary Langsdale, retired from Penn State University and a part-time role as URMIA’s education manager. This award honors institutional members upon their retirement who have played a significant role in URMIA and the profession of higher education risk management.
