Bio

Bill Powell, ARM, is an area executive vice president with Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. He has over 25 years of insurance brokerage and consulting experience specializing in non-profit institutions, including colleges and universities. He has served on the broker advisory council of two insurance companies, published numerous articles relating to higher education risk management, and has spoken at several higher education conferences. He earned a BA in history from Loyola University of Chicago and an MA in history from the University of Chicago and has completed the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation programs. Mr. Powell was a co-founder of URMIAcares, URMIA's successful volunteer activity; he serves as a mentor for five 6th grade students in Chicago's St. Constance School, in affiliation with The Big Shoulders Fund; and he is an executive committee member of the Associated Colleges of Illinois, a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve educational opportunities for first-generation, low-income, and minority students.
