URMIAmentors

URMIAmentors, a benefit for members of URMIA, is designed to connect those newer to the higher education risk management profession with experienced higher education risk management professionals to share experiences and provide guidance to industry peers for career development.

URMIAmentors allows you to make valuable industry connections, define career goals, enhance leadership skills, and gain insight from risk management and insurance peers. The program is about growing professionally and networking with fellow URMIA members.

Mentoring can:

  • Provide mentees with valuable insights, skills, and knowledge from experienced mentors who can develop their leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Offer guidance and support to mentees to help them navigate their career paths effectively, leading to increased job satisfaction and opportunities for advancement.
  • Foster meaningful connections between mentors and mentees, expanding professional networks, and opening doors to new opportunities.
  • Enhance employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction by promoting a culture of learning, development, and collaboration.

Cost: Free to URMIA members

Duration: One year

Time Commitment: One hour minimum per month

Venue: Online, phone, email

Engagement: One-on-one relationship

Mentoring Topics: Mentors and mentees are matched based on common interests/objectives

Step 1
Choose to apply as a mentor or mentee. Please be as specific as possible in your application so you can be paired with the right mentor or mentee.
Step 2
After you have completed the URMIAmentors online application form, you will receive a confirmation email. The URMIA team will review your application and notify you of its status in a timely manner.
Step 3
Mentoring relationships are slated to last 12 months. URMIA will be checking in with program participants throughout the mentoring cycle for feedback and suggestions.
