Experienced Higher Education Risk Management Leader
Craig McAllister is the Assistant Vice President of Risk Management for the University of Miami. He was previously at Cornell University in a similar role and has over 25 years of risk management experience in industry, healthcare and higher education. Craig’s duties include providing strategic risk management direction for the University and advice, training, and consultation to the academic, administrative and healthcare units of the institution. Craig has oversight for the University’s Enterprise Risk Management Program, the University Captive Insurance Company and the self-insured and purchased property and casualty, healthcare professional liability and workers compensation programs, including management of claims. Craig is a regular presenter at national conferences, he is the past president of the Upstate NY Chapter of RIMS, a board member of the Greater Miami Chapter of RIMS and served on the Board of URMIA from 2017 to 2025, including URMIA President for 2023-2024. Craig holds the CPCU, ARM, AIC, and AIS designations.
