Donna specializes in commercial property risk engineering and has an affinity for storage and logistics, including cold storage; manufacturing and production facilities; and large healthcare, education, and research campuses.
She provides property risk engineering services and advice for global clients with multiple locations, complex and high-challenge occupancies, and a variety of exposures. She is responsible for providing risk management support while assisting her clients with controlling and minimizing the total cost of risk. Donna acts as a liaison between the client and property insurance carrier engineers to ensure that clients receive appropriate account services by participating in select site surveys, identifying hazards and deficiencies, offering alternatives to mitigate exposures, reviewing and validating carrier recommendations and reports, and requesting revisions of carrier engineers when needed. She also facilitates recommendation responses from client to carriers and vendors to ensure alignment of priorities and stability of the property insurance program.
Donna began her career in 1993 as a facilities manager in the aerospace industry. Prior to joining Gallagher in 2020, she worked for companies such as Rockwell Space Operations, Factory Mutual Engineering (now FM Global,) Jones|Carter Engineering, Zurich, and Marsh, where she held roles from sales and project engineer, to risk engineer and engineering flood specialist. Her experience includes property loss prevention, risk and exposure analysis, loss investigation, and engineering design for roadway, traffic control and civil site work. She has the perspective of a client facilities manager, carrier risk engineer, and broker risk consultant, and the ability to translate technical recommendations into actionable advice in order to reach acceptable solutions for the client and carrier.
Donna earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Lamar University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas. In addition to URMIA, she is also a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), which she currently serves as secretary for the Houston chapter.
