John retired after 40+ years providing insurance and risk management services, the last 18 as Executive Director of Gallagher’s Higher Education Practice, and the prior 16 years as Pepperdine University’s Director of Risk Management. John joined URMIA in 1987, had the honor of working alongside several of the founding members on various committees, and served on the Board of Directors for 12 years. He was instrumental in the establishment of College Liability Insurance Co. (CLIC), a Hawaii domiciled captive of seven west-coast colleges and universities, and served on United Educators Risk Management Advisory Council. In 2003 John joined Gallagher and served as a resource to Gallagher’s college and university clients focused on providing practical and effective risk management solutions. John was instrumental in writing and and editing journal articles, white papers and risk management tips on a wide variety of subjects. He earned the Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) professional educational credentials, and was honored with the Risk & Insurance "Power Broker" and the URMIA Distinguished Risk Manager (DRM) recognitions. John holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University.
