Anthony Appleton, PhD

Research Safety Culture Coordinator

Bio

Anthony graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and marine science from the University of Miami (FL) and received a Ph.D. in chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology. He continued his studies as a Camille and Henry Dreyfus Postdoctoral Fellow in Environmental Science at Stanford University within the Chemical Engineering Department. Anthony’s research focused on organic optoelectronic materials for solar energy, biomedical sensors, environmental monitoring, and flexible electronics. He has co-authored twenty peer-reviewed articles. Anthony was a member of the Stanford Safety Culture Task Force and previously served as a safety officer at Georgia Tech and Stanford. Currently, Anthony serves as the Research Safety Culture Coordinator, a liaison-style position acting as the “ganache” between researchers and the various safety and compliance units at Colorado State University. The Research Safety Culture Program works collaboratively across the University to ensure productive, synergistic relationships within our research community to achieve a positive, proactive safety culture that enhances CSU’s world-renowned research.
