Elliot Young is a strategic leader in higher education risk management and compliance with over 12 years of experience designing and leading institution-wide programs. He currently serves as the Director of Institutional Compliance & Equal Opportunity at Kansas City University, where he leads the development and oversight of a comprehensive compliance & ethics framework that integrates ethics, equal opportunity, and risk mitigation. Elliot also serves as the University’s Title IX and Equal Opportunity Coordinators, managing nondiscrimination policies, investigations, and supportive measures.
Previously, Elliot was the AVP, Risk & Compliance at Kansas State University, where he developed and launched the university's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, managed a $2.4M insurance portfolio, led emergency response efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and oversaw Threat Management, Minors on Campus, Clery Act, and International travel policies and procedures.
His earlier roles include advancing youth protection, events management protocols and global risk programs at Cornell University, advancing student leadership development initiatives at the University of Kansas, and conducting risk assessments and trainings with Praesidium, Inc.
Elliot holds a J.D., an M.S.E, and a B.A., is a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) and holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation. He serves on the URMIA Board of Directors and is recognized for his strategic leadership and commitment to fostering ethical, resilient institutions.
