Drew has 12+ years’ experience across various sectors of the commercial insurance industry. He started out as a small business underwriter at Liberty Mutual. He transitioned to Surplus Lines Insurance as a hybrid broker for All Risks Ltd. (now Ryan Specialty). In this role he was able to leverage his underwriting skills and learn new marketing strategies to build a profitable book of business. In 2018, Drew transitioned into higher education as a Risk Manager at UNC Chapel Hill. He leveraged his underwriting and policy language competencies with his marketing skills to internally market a new business continuity tool. While working at UNC Drew used his experience of directing the change of a new business continuity tool to navigate a campus-wide Property insurance conversion. in 2022, Drew moved to NC State University as the Insurance & Risk Manager where he led the Insurance & Risk Management team while overseeing the insurance portfolio and programing. Drew currently serves as the Director of Property Risk at the NC Association of Insurance Agents where he manages the Property Program for the State of NC.
In December 2024, Drew received an MBA from NC State’s Jenkins MBA Program, concentrating in Leadership and Business Analytics with a focus on Enterprise Risk Management. Drew enjoys solving complex problems, finding innovative solutions to streamline business processes, and mitigate risks.
